Australia Wildlife Park – Wildlife photography

Finally a chance to fully utlilize my Canon 70-300mm lens for some wildlife photography!

This is my first time taking wildlife shots so I was pretty excited about it. On the weekend I drove up to Australia Wildlife Park with Chibi and her family to enjoy a relaxing day of animal sight seeing.

You can’t instruct animals to move so the challenge is to move yourself and hope for the right moments! Sort of like taking pictures of babies, the only difference is they are really far away and you can’t control the outdoor lighting. I tried taking pictures of some Kangaroos but they kept standing in the sun which resulted in really harsh lighting which wasn’t very flattering so I didn’t include them. Sorry no Kangaroos! except for a little joey =)

Whilst this park did not feature that many animals compared to say Taronga Zoo, it’s still a great place to check out some of Australia’s native animals. You can get up close to the kangaroos and Koalas but I did not. Afraid you say? heck no, I’d beat up a kangaroo like I beat up a squash ball, I just didn’t wanna risk my lens =P.
